Wandering Awareness webinar promotes safety for individuals with I/DD and autism

At Canaan Cares, the safety, health, and well-being of the individuals we support are always our highest priority. That’s why our team continually seeks opportunities for ongoing education and training that help us provide the best possible care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and autism.

We are excited to share an upcoming virtual webinar hosted by the California Department of Developmental Services focused on Wandering Awareness & Prevention for Individuals with I/DD & Autism. Our team plans to attend this important educational event as part of our ongoing commitment to safety, advocacy, and person-centered care.

Wandering can present serious safety risks for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, and education is one of the most effective tools for prevention. This webinar will provide practical strategies for improving safety at home and in the community, working effectively with first responders, planning for individual needs, and utilizing key resources to support families and caregivers.
