As we continue to grow, we’re looking for caring individuals who want more than just a job. We’re looking for people who want to make a difference.
That’s why we’re excited to invite prospective team members to our upcoming Direct Support Professional Hiring Event.
The Heart of Canaan Cares: Our Culture
Culture and caring aren’t just buzzwords at Canaan Cares. They are the foundation of everything we do.
We foster an environment built on respect, compassion, inclusion, and empowerment. Every member of our team is encouraged to see the person first, not the disability. We celebrate individuality, encourage independence, and support each person’s unique goals and dreams.
Our culture is rooted in the belief that meaningful relationships create meaningful outcomes. Whether we’re supporting someone in learning a new skill, participating in community activities, or achieving a personal milestone, we focus on helping individuals live life on their own terms.
What Is Person-Centered Care?
Person-centered care means placing the individual’s preferences, choices, and goals at the center of every decision.
Rather than telling someone what they should do, we ask:
- What are your goals?
- What matters most to you?
- How can we help you achieve greater independence?
- What support do you need to live the life you choose?
Our Direct Support Professionals play a critical role in bringing person-centered care to life by supporting meaningful choices, encouraging community engagement, teaching life skills, and helping individuals advocate for themselves.
Why Direct Support Professionals Matter
Direct Support Professionals are more than caregivers. They are mentors, advocates, friends, companions, teachers, and trusted partners.
DSPs help individuals:
- Build confidence and independence
- Develop life skills
- Engage in their communities
- Achieve personal goals
- Strengthen self-advocacy skills
- Live safely and successfully in their homes and communities
Every day offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life.
